Adult Church School Classes

Newcomers Class
A six-week survey, What About Presbyterians?, is offered once or twice a year for those who have recently come to our church, especially those joining us from other denominations. Discussions, videos, and other short presentations are included. All who are interested in learning more about our denomination are encouraged to contact the church office for the exact dates of the next course. This class is taught by Drs. Bob and Nancy Grayson.

Fellowship Class, Room K108
This class is full of the longtime faithful of First Presbyterian. Each week begins with singing familiar hymns, followed by a lesson from The Present Word curriculum, which is based on International Sunday School Lessons: International Bible Lessons for Christian Teaching. This class is taught by Dr. Jim LeMaster, Joe Sudderth, and Cathy McPhee.

Everyday Christian Living Class,
Chapel Parlor, King Building

This class discusses current events and headlines, relates them to Scripture, encourages dialogue on how to apply the Scripture to everyday life, and engages class members with thought-provoking, stimulating discussion. The class leaders are YOU. So, for all you “news junkies”, every Thursday the lesson for the week is emailed, to give you time to contemplate the headline in advance of Sunday morning. Joanne and Doug Heitmiller will facilitate discussion.

Covenant Adult Bible Study Class, Room C201
The Covenant Class focuses on Bible-based studies of how God’s grace and love transform our hearts. This class encourages participation and discussion, and is taught by Dr. Dick Kannwischer.

Seekers Class, Room C203
This informal class is mainly comprised of families with children, but anyone is welcome! The group is well described by the name “Seekers,” and enjoys lively discussions of current issues and the challenges of Christianity today. This class is taught by Dr. Chuck Weaver.

Explorers Class, Library, Room C202
The Explorers Class is oriented toward parents and professionals in their 30s - 40s, people whose often hectic lives leave them, seeking COFFEE: Community, Outreach, Fellowship, Fun, Education and Exploration! Explorers envision “church” as both worship and a lived response, to Cod’s grace and action in the world by building a community of study, mutual support, social interaction and service. This class will be led by Alex Eichenberg, Gretchen Eichenberg, Craig Clarkson, and Kellie Clarkson.
