2010 Vision Statement

First Presbyterian Church of Waco, Texas joyfully celebrates 150 years of Christian journey while also looking toward future characterized by continued growth in God’s love and by an inclusive ministry that nurtures and shares the grace of Christ with all people. Thanking God for the firm roots of our history, we look to the future and envision a church family that:

Proclaims joyfully by word and deed God’s grace and love revealed in Christ.

Worships God with thankful hearts while continuing to use our traditional Presbyterian liturgical style with preaching that is theologically sound, imaginative, and inclusive of all God’s family.

Grows in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ through enthusiastic participation in Christian Education programs.

Teaches and encourages the exploration of God’s Word, which helps us relate faith to the practical realities of our daily lives.

Explores the intellectual as well as the emotional side of Christian life, weaving together heart and mind in the joyous service of God.

Expands fellowship opportunities in the community of faith and continually nurtures warm, caring friendships throughout our lives.

Builds upon our respect for a diversity of ideas and a congregation that thinks in its believing and believes in its thinking.

Invites all people to love the Lord through a ministry of active service.

Nurtures one another with a friendly, welcoming spirit.

Shares Christ’s love by caring for each other and our neighbors throughout the community and the world.

Serves the Lord and the entire family of God.

Comforts one another with compassion, love, and understanding.
