Children’s
Church
All children are invited to attend the worship service in the sanctuary. After the first part of the service, adults will escort younger children to the nursery, and Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade age children who wish to attend Children’s Church will be escorted to the Chapel. Children’s Church consists of easy to learn hymns, Bible stories, and other active participation designed to make worship more accessible to young children. Following their service, children participate in a craft activity related to that Sunday’s lesson in a nearby classroom. From the Sunday after Labor day through the first week of May, children ages 4 through first grade have the opportunity to go to children’s choir with Sharon Stern (Melody Makers) after the lesson.
Vacation Bible School
Each summer, we have a week long Vacation Bible School. Themes vary from year to year, but it is always a time of Bible stories, recreation, crafts, and music. VBS dates for 2008 are Sunday, June 15 through Thursday, June 19. Thursday night ends with a special program.
Joyful Notes Choir
From the Sunday after Labor day through the first week of May, children in grades 2 through 6 have the opportunity to participate in the Joyful Notes Choir. This choir is led by Anita Selters and meets each Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. Children have the opportunity to learn music, to perform music designed for their age group, to learn Biblical truths, and to learn how to worship through music. They will present a musical in March and sing in worship and programs throughout the year.
Children’s
Sunday
Each year in the Fall, we have a special worship service that is led by the children of the church. From the call to worship to the benediction (except for the sermon), our children lead the congregation. This year, children’s Sunday will be celebrated on October 14, 2007.
Other
Children’s
Activities
Throughout the year, we have special activities, such as easter
egg hunts, swimming parties, and picnics for our children and their
parents. Please check our newsletter, The
Tower, for more information about other children’s
activities.
