Medical Benevolence
Foundation

Medical Volunteers may contribute their skills at Presbyterian Mission Hospitals in third world countries, coordinated through the Medical Benevolence Foundation in partnership with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

The Medical Benevolence Foundation also helps procure medical equipment for our mission hospitals. In 1999, our church collected a special offering toward the purchase of an ambulance for rural Bibanga Hospital in Congo, Africa. The hospital was established in 1917, and is struggling in this time of political and economic chaos in its country, led by Christian Medical Director Dr. Mukena Tsheniankinda.

Mission
Medical Benevolence Foundation (MBF) exists to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel of Jesus Christ through a healing ministry.

In partnership with the Presbyterian Church (USA), MBF…

  • Interprets and provides information about the international health concerns of the Presbyterian Church(USA) and its international partners;
  • Raises funds to support international health programs;
  • Recruits healthcare professionals and other types of volunteers to serve in health related mission programs outside the U.S.;
  • Shares gifts of donated surplus medical supplies and equipment with international partners.

We seek the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to carry out Jesus Christ’s commission to preach, teach, and heal the sick.

Medicine
Medicine has different definitions, but all tie to the art of healing. Working to bring health and wholeness around the world is the commitment of MBF in partnership with PC(USA).

MBF provides support that enables our international partners to minister through…

  • Community health – prevention and treatment;
  • Diseases of Poverty programs, including HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis;
  • Development and training for indigenous personnel;
  • Medical care for the needy;
  • Maintenance, construction, and operation of hospitals and clinics;
  • Overseas shipment of medical supplies and equipment.

Miracles
Miracles are remarkable transformations of people’s lives through the healing presence of Jesus Christ.

  • Transforming God’s world as we reach out to developing areas, making Christ visible, and bringing health and wholeness to thousands each day.
  • Transforming congregations as we build bridges connecting all of God’s people, growing and learning from each other.
  • Transforming the life of each individual, internationally and in the U.S., as we respond to God’s call and experience God’s presence among one another and through one another.
