The stated goals of the Outreach committee of the Session are: give more attention to relating the gospel to current social issues and community problems, providing opportunity for active involvement where feasible. Consistent with the Presbyterian Church's understanding, implement a program of evangelism to challenge all with the gospel of Jesus and its demands on their lives. Support the organization and purposes of the greater church and yearly increase our financial support. Part of the work of the Outreach committee is to focus and coordinate the service to the community provided by First Presbyterian Church. Here are some of the opportunities for service and contributions that have been identified by the Session for direct support. The list of agencies directly supported by the Outreach committee is not exhaustive, but it represents an endorsement of each agency's validity. Church members are not constrained to limit their service to the listed agencies; rather, this list is a guide and is symbolic of the corporate effort of the Church, to be expressed and supplemented by the individual's choice of service or support. Local Outreach
Waco has many non-profit organizations which serve our community. First Presbyterian Church sets aside a substantial portion of our annual budget to support several of these organizations, including, but not limited to, the ones listed below. In addition, many of our members serve on the executive boards and volunteer staffs of these organizations.
