What To Expect

“When you enter the big oak doors of an old, historic downtown church, you might expect a formal, cold, even overwhelming feeling. We think First Presbyterian is just the opposite! Worshippers — young and old, visitors and members — are welcomed with warm smiles and genuinely happy greetings. If you want to jump right in, there will be someone to take you around and make sure you feel at home. If you want to find a quiet corner and simply reflect or pray, you can do that too. If you love music, you are in for a weekly treat. First Presbyterian's many talented vocalists and musicians offer their beautiful gifts in a way that leaves you feeling not like you've been to a performance, but rather as if you've experienced something truly special. And our pastors are humble, welcoming and inspiring. While not full of answers to life's questions, They have a unique understanding of the human condition — our many and varied human conditions that swirl together, sometimes in chaos. And in one hour of worship each Sunday, they reminds us that all will be OK, and that God is definitely good. -- Alex and Gretchen Eichenberg

Our first worship service begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel. There is congregational singing, preaching and Communion every Sunday. Members of all ages attend. Come early at 8:15 a.m. and join in coffee fellowship.

Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:15 a.m. Nursery care is provided.

Our second worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. This is a traditional Presbyterian service with choir and full liturgy. Communion is served usually on the first Sunday of each month. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the service. Those children in the fifth grade and below teach us and pray as part of the gathering of the church, then are dismissed to supervised special activities.

A coffee fellowship follows in the Foundation Parlor at the conclusion of the service.

If you want to worship in your Sunday best, you’ll feel right at home. If you want to worship in your jeans and shirt, you’ll feel right at home. The main thing is that you worship with us.

We would love for you to find your home and discover for yourself what God has for you.

Join us for coffee after the service.
